The end of summer is always a sad time for me.  I always thought that once I finished school, the end of summer would not be as depressing. However, every Labor Day I feel the usual gloominess at the thought of another 9 months of non-summer.  So this year, I decided to be positive and focus on
5 of the Best Things about Fall in New England.

Who doesn’t love this fall activity? You are given a bag and then permitted to walk around a beautiful orchard picking apples. A few photos are usually taken and then at the end of this delightful walk there are usually apple cider and candy apples. This is a great fall weekend activity. Oh, and did I mention, baking apple pie afterwards?!

2. Pumpkin
Whether the pumpkin flavoring is natural or artificial, there is no denying how delicious pumpkin is. Fall is the one time of the year when you can get pumpkin flavored anything! Think…pumpkin muffins, coffee, donuts, butter, cookies, pie…I could go on an on. Plus, pumpkin is actually really good for you. It is chock full of vitamins and minerals with minimal calories (not including pumpkin desserts of course!).

There is no denying the beauty of the fall. The leaves change color and it is probably one of the most beautiful times of year. The vibrant colors in the trees are just absolutely gorgeous. We are lucky to live in a part of the country that gets to experience this art exhibit by Mother Nature.

Fall weather is the best with temperatures during the day ranging in the 60’s – 70’s and the nights cooling down enough for sweatshirts and blankets. Fall nights are also the best for bonfires, another great fall activity.

5. Football
I doubt that I could have a list of the greatest things about fall and not include football. Even if you are not the biggest sports fan, you have to enjoy the beer, wings and constant reasons to get together on Sundays.

So, there you have it; the best things about fall. I guess it’s time for me to stop whining that my summer is over and embrace the wonderful seasons that New England living brings!
