With Christmas fast approaching, it’s time to look for a tree. Fortunately, Rhode Island offers a great selection and many places allow you tag a tree and collect it later. Here are some of Rhode Island’s best-known tree farms.
Fraser Orchards offers pick-your-own Christmas trees on weekends normally between 10am and 4 pm. Call them first to ensure they’re open and check out their wreaths while you’re there.
Henry’s Christmas Tree Farm has a massive selection of trees and offers many varieties and sizes. They allow you to tag a tree ahead of time, and often operate a wagon to transport people to the fields. Check out their wreaths, ornaments, and decorations after you find the ideal tree.
They normally operate daily between 10am and 6pm, but call ahead to check.
The Christmas Farm is a cut-your-tree operation that sells trees for 33 dollars, no matter the size. They also have a gift shop stocked with handmade ornaments and wreaths.

Big John Leyden is a bit of a legend in these parts. CBS This Morning aired his annual spot for 17 years, and he is a strong advocate for Rhode Island grown trees, instead of artificial. He refutes claims that real trees are bad environmental choices since they produce oxygen, filter out airborne pollutants, and create a haven for various animals and birds. They’re also recyclable, unlike synthetic trees which often end up in landfills.
They operate daily between 9am and 4pm, but you can also buy your family or commercial tree online and receive a $5 discount. You can also order wreaths.
Schartner Farms is best known for their produce, but during the holiday season they sell Christmas trees. The farm has operated for three generations, has a gift shop stocked for Christmas, and even has a Christmas Tree hotline (401) 294-2049 to call when you intend to visit.
Normal operating hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm on the weekends and 11:00am to 4:30pm during the week, but check before you leave home.
