Throughout the month of August, our casual Fridays benefited a local Special Olympics Team, the Woonsocket Wolverines. We were permitted to dress down on Fridays as long as we made a donation to this great organization. The agency matched the employees’ donations, and we are proud to be donating $350 to the Woonsocket Wolverines

The Special Olympics is the largest sports organization for adults and children with intellectual disabilities. It provides year-round sports programs, training and competitions to more than 4.2 million athletes in 170 countries. Rhode Island alone provides 1600 athletic competitions for more than 3,000 athletes.
The Woonsocket Wolverines is one of these Special Olympics teams. They are led by head coach Jeff Bernier, son of our fabulous bookkeeper, Roberta Bernier. The team has about 70-80 competing athletes depending on the season. The Wolverines offer basketball, softball, soccer, flag football, swimming, track and bowling programs.
The Special Olympics motto is “Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.” Win, the Wolverines did! This past spring, the Woonsocket Wolverines’ softball teams received a gold medal and a silver medal in their regional softball competition!
What an inspiring organization! It is our pleasure to donate to such a great cause. For more information on the Woonsocket Wolverines, feel free to visit a previous blog or their Facebook Page.
