On Sunday, October 18th the American Cancer Society will host its annual Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk in Downtown Providence. The Making Strides against Breast Cancer walk is a huge event with over 2,455 participants walking to finish the fight against breast cancer.

elizabethsentourageThroughout the month of September our casual Friday’s went to support Elizabeth’s Entourage, one of the 503 teams participating in the Making Strides of Providence walk. We were able to donate $334 dollars to this wonderful team!  Elizabeth’s Entourage was formed in honor of Elizabeth Pita, one of our Customer Service Representatives. Elizabeth’s  niece created the team as a surprise last year, after Elizabeth was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. Luckily, the cancer was caught early enough and Elizabeth is now in remission and doing great!

Making Strides and other breast cancer fundraising events are making a difference in the lives of women everywhere, especially in the United States1157387_388675711280279_907933808694724546_n.  The money raised through these events is funding lifesaving research. As a result, breast cancer is claiming fewer lives now than ever before, thanks to early detection, increased awareness, better screening and newer treatment options. This is wonderful news, especially considering that in the United States alone, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

Last year, Elizabeth’s Entourage had over 20 participants and raised over $2,000.  They are excited about taking part in the walk again this year.  If you wish to learn more about Elizabeth’s Entourage or the Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk click here.
