The weather is finally feeling seasonal out there which means it is about time to get our cameras ready for some fall foliage pictures! Rhode Island has so many beautiful places to stop and take some pictures this time of year. Here are some tips for your next photographic journey through the Rhode Island forests.
- Before you head out, make sure you pack yourself plenty of water, a first aid kit and a map. You don’t want to be left high and dry without knowing where you are. Bring a few snacks along, too just in case.
- Have your vehicle checked to make sure it won’t conk out and leave you stranded on some off road without a way out. Make sure your car insurance is up to date and will provide you with the coverage you may need.
- Brush up on your picture taking skills. The leaves will be gorgeous so you will want to be sure you can capture their beauty correctly. If you can schedule your trip early in the morning or later in the evening, you will benefit from the “golden light” that will give your pictures a natural glow. The air is also clearest in the morning and after it rains, so your pictures will be much brighter if you take them at those times. If you travel on an overcast day, you can still get plenty of great shots. Just remember to focus more on the leaves themselves instead of the sky.
The most important tip when it comes to enjoying fall foliage is to put your camera down for a few minutes and just take it all in. The sound of a breeze blowing fallen leaves across the ground… the smell of the forest… the beautiful colors that only nature can provide… Fully experience the gorgeous autumn weather. Use the pictures as a tool to remember a wonderful day out in Rhode Island.
