Learn about RI Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Student of the Year Candidate Madison Renaud

Throughout the month of February, our agency’s Casual Friday’s benefited Madison Renaud’s campaign to become Student of the Year for the RI Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Madison is a senior at Cranston West High School and is the daughter of Brian and Dawn Renaud, a valued client family of Loiselle Insurance Agency. The LLS Student of the Year campaign is a six week initiative where nominated students compete to see who can raise the most money for LLS. Each student is assigned a teen patient hero, and the candidates’ campaigns raise money in honor of their patient heroes. This year’s winner will be announced on February 27th at a reception at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet. The winning student will receive a $5,000 scholarship to the college of his/her choice, and all candidates will receive a $1,000 scholarship as long as they raised at least $10,000 during the campaign.

We are inspired by all of these young people who are leaders in their respective schools and communities. We’d like to give special kudos to Madison! Read more about Madison and her campaign, Maddie’s Mission, on her website at maddierenaud.com or read our interview with her below!

Loiselle Agency: “Can you tell us a little about why you decided to run for Student of the Year?”

Madison Renaud: “I was nominated by my mom’s friend whose niece was named Woman of the Year last year. Knowing how motivated I am when it comes to helping others, she thought this campaign would be perfect for me! I truly love to help others and what better way than fundraising.”

Loiselle Agency: “I know that you have mentioned your honored hero, Emma, throughout your campaign. Can you tell us a little about Emma?”

Madison Renaud: “Emma was diagnosed with cancer when she was in middle school. She had to fight for her life and go through many surgeries, such as multiple hip replacements. She is truly a survivor and a fighter. I am doing this whole campaign in honor of her, and also to help many kids like her.”

Loiselle Agency: “So far, what has been your favorite part of this whole experience?”

Madison Renaud: “All the events! Having events and being able to have all your loved ones in one place supporting such a great cause is so fulfilling. I have had so much fun with all the events we have done and I truly appreciate everyone who has come. While all the other fundraising is fun, nothing is better than fundraising in an entertaining setting!”

Loiselle Agency: “Do you have any college plans yet? What career path do you want to pursue?”

Madison Renaud: “I have not fully decided which school I will be attending but I hope it will be Quinnipiac University. I have applied into all nursing programs and hope to continue my studies in graduate school to become a nurse practitioner. Pediatric oncology is one of the things I am most focused on so doing all this work for blood cancers is truly setting me up for my future.”
