November is here! Do you know what that means? It is officially time for No-Shave November! Never heard of it?! Don’t worry…Printneither had we, but it’s such a cool idea that we figured we’d tell you all about it. Basically, the goal of No-Shave November is to grow cancer awareness by growing hair. Since many cancer patients lose their hair, No-Shave November is a time to celebrate the tresses and locks and hopefully get us closer to eradicating the disease. So whether you love or hate the bearded look, embrace the hair for November!

In the Fall of 2009, No-Shave November founders, Rebecca Hill and her friend Bret Ringdahl, brainstormed ways that anyone – regardless of age, gender, or income level – could raise money and bring awareness to cancer, while also having fun! In 1996, Rebecca’s father, Matthew, was first diagnosed with cancer and eventually lost his battle in 2007. Matthew was an avid contributor No Shave Phototo his community and Rebecca and her siblings wanted to do something in his spirit. Alas, the concept of No-Shave November was born and quickly gained many supporters who were happy to ditch the razors and donate some money instead. In 2013, No-Shave November partnered with the American Cancer

Society to guarantee donators that the funds raised will be distributed properly to aid with cancer research, prevention, education and continuing care.

How does it work?
Go au natural! You can participate in the movement by growing a beard, cultivating a mustache, skipping your wax appointment, and just plain-old letting your hair do its own thing for a whole month! As you are growing your hair, you are encouraged to tell everyone who you are growing for and why…and hopefully you’ll also choose to donate the money from your grooming savings to the cause. And if you’re just not ready to embrace the shagginess, you can always donate anyways!

I used to hate facial hair. Then it grew on me (hahaha)
