It’s that time of year again, whether we love it or hate it, winter is definitely on its way!
This is also the time of year when we receive many phone calls from our commercial clients asking if their policies cover them if they perform snow removal services, such as plowing or shoveling. So watch as insurance experts Rosalynn Davila and Micki Veerman answer the question, “Am I insured for snow removal through my business owners or general liability policy?”
Am I Insured for snow removal through my business owners or general liability policy?
Probably not, as most insurance companies have actually started adding exclusions to their policies which specifically state that there is no coverage for snow removal.
So I would have no coverage in the event of a claim involving snow removal? Correct. If your policy is one with a specific snow removal exclusion, then you would have no coverage in the event of a claim involving snow removal.
Is there a way to purchase this type of insurance?
Yes, many insurance companies allow you to buy back or purchase coverage for snow removal. The coverage can often be added to your current policy.
If you are thinking of performing snow removal services this winter, please give us a call. We would be more than happy to review your policy and let you know your insurance options.
