Is my ATV covered under my homeowner’s insurance?

The easiest answer to that question is no, your all terrain vehicle (ATV) will not be covered under your homeowner’s insurance policy.  Homeowners insurance excludes motor vehicles of any kind with little exception. However, there are options for ATV Insurance.

Small motorized scooters and those little electric cars small children like to ride around on may be covered, but not entirely.  Once that little scooter or truck is driven off your property, it will have no coverage for any damage or injury it causes.  That means if your son decides to knock down the neighbor’s mailbox and it gets damaged, you will have to pay for it out of your own pocket.  That could run into a lot of money if you are not careful.

When it comes to your ATV, you will need to purchase a separate insurance policy to have coverage on it.  Similar to your car insurance policy, you can go with the minimum state requirement or you can opt to have additional coverage on your ATV to protect your finances if it is damaged or you are injured while riding it.

Let’s face it: ATVs can go through a lot of different terrains which can cause a lot of damage to them.  They are fun, but they can be quite costly if you do not have the right insurance to cover damages.  Why spend all the money on the ATV and not insure it when you know what you could possibly be up against?  One wrong turn in the mud can cause a lot more damage than you might think.

We can offer you a great quote on a policy that will cover anything from broken handlebars to a bent exhaust pipe.  Let us help find the right policy for your ATV.  Give us a call and let us know what you are looking for in coverage.
