Loiselle Insurance Agency sponsored the 5th Annual PFC Kyle Coutu Memorial Race on June 7th at Slater Park. The 5K is in memory of Kyle Coutu who was killed in Afghanistan during combat missions in 2010.
Kyle was only 20 years old when he lost his life serving our country. Kyle’s mother, Melissa Coutu, has organized the race as a fun way to honor and remember Kyle while raising money for a Scholarship fund in his name.
With over 300 runners and walkers, this year’s event had a strong turnout. The event coordinators were pleased with the amount of participants, especially since there were many other races happening that day. Among the attendees were 31 firefighters from six different departments, many of whom completed the 5K in full firefighting gear! One of the firefighters, Scott MacLaughlin, actually finished the race in 40:39 minutes in full gear!
Loiselle Insurance Agency was honored to support such a wonderful cause. We love our troops, especially a hero from our own town! In addition to the sponsorship, we also had some entries in the race from the office: Lina Fonseca, Melanie Loiselle-Mongeon and Janet Stanton. Thanks for your participation ladies!
The PFC Kyle Coutu Memorial Scholarship fund is awarded to deserving Tolman High School Graduates heading off to college. Kyle had graduated from Tolman in 2009 and actually enlisted the week after graduation. This year, Leiandra Wilson & Nathan Gagnon received the honor of this scholarship.
