Summer is drawing to a close, but that doesn’t mean the fun’s over. Rhode Island still has plenty of great events happening around Labor Day. You will find many indoor events include COVID requirements, so check the listing carefully.


Rhythm & Roots Festival

  • September 3, 4, 5
  • Ninigret Park

This huge outdoor music event includes three stages and dozens of performers. The headliner is John Hiatt this year, but you’ll find many other acts to get your toes tapping too. Rough camping is also available for RVs, pop-up campers and tents.


IYRS 42nd Annual Newport Classic Yacht Regatta

  • September 4, 5
  • Narragansett Bay and Rhode Island Sound

This Rhode Island event features a two-day race of classic yachts from around the world. Racing starts near noon, but there’s also a classic yacht parade on Sunday at 10:15am around Newport Harbor.

After the race, there’s an award ceremony and cocktail party too. Guests must email proof of vaccination to attend.


Apres Polo: Sailor’s Delight

Enjoy a lobster boil and shellfish dinner and the USA vs. England polo match. Yes, this event is slightly ahead of the long weekend, but it’s also a great way to meet the teams and enjoy some fabulous food.


Al Fresco on the Hill

This popular event features expanded street seating within closed sections of Atwells Avenue. Over 20 restaurants have participated this year, so get out and support your local favorites. Considering the challenges faced; they will really appreciate your visit.

VEG OUT: Vegan Eats & Treats

  • Throughout Rhode Island
  • Throughout September

This is your chance to check out plant- based cuisine in RI. Buy a VEG OUT Passport good at least 15 restaurants. You have an entire month to taste test ice cream, bagels, pizza, pastries, sandwiches, sweet, salty, and savory dishes.


Finish For A Guiness 5K

  • 66 Church Street
  • September 5, 10:00 am

This worthwhile charitable event offers a great way to get some exercise and raise awareness for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), or Lou Gehrig’s disease. Funds raised help those affected by ALS, including their families.
